The login code (two-factor verification)

The Gusto 6-digit code is a one-time verification code used for two-factor authentication. When you sign in to your Gusto account, Gusto sends a six-digit number to your phone by text message or to your email, and you enter it to confirm it's really you. This protects sensitive payroll and banking information from unauthorized access.

Code not arriving? Fix it in this order

• Check that your phone number and email are correct in your Gusto account settings.
• Look in your spam folder and make sure you have cell signal — carrier delays are the most common cause.
• Request a new code if the first one expires; only the most recent code works.
• Still stuck? Gusto's support team can verify you another way and reset your two-factor settings.

The customer service security code

Gusto may also use a one-time code when you contact customer support: to confirm you're the account holder before discussing payroll or banking details, the agent can send the same kind of six-digit verification code to your phone or email and ask you to read it back. Never share that code with anyone who called you unprompted — Gusto support will only ask for it on a call or chat that you started.
